Amara Buyse
Amara Buyse is a government affairs and public policy expert with over fifteen years of experience in both the public and private sector. She has been in Asia for over a decade and is currently based in Singapore. Previously she worked in Malaysia at a strategic think tank advising Malaysian policymakers, including the Prime Minister.
Prior to becoming an independent consultant, she was the APAC policy-lead for Rolls-Royce where she was directly involved in shaping policy around aviation sector development and sustainability, which included frequent engagement with senior officials in Singapore. Amara has also worked as the APAC lead for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), where she focused on government engagement in the organisation’s core markets of India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. Before going in-house, Amara led the Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar offices of a regional government affairs advisory firm.
Originally from Belgium, Amara started her career as a government liaison for Google and consequently worked as a Press & Media officer at the European Commission, where she was responsible for managing the Commission’s public reputation and conducting daily briefings to journalists.
Amara holds two Masters’ degrees and is fluent in English, French, Dutch and Italian. She speaks good German and basic Malay.
