SIPA Partners Co-Authors Report on Japanese Business Impact in Southeast Asia

TOKYO | November 18, 2024 – SIPA Partners is pleased to announce its collaboration on a newly launched report by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), highlighting the positive externalities of Japanese business activities in Southeast Asia. The report was officially unveiled at an event in Tokyo, organized in partnership with the United States-Japan Foundation.

SIPA Partners co-authored the report, with key contributions from consultants Racheline Tantular and Kentaro Morita, who played instrumental roles in the project. The research showcases case studies from leading Japanese companies, including PEEL Lab, Mynavi Corporation, Zeroboard, FUJIFILM Corporation, Shizen Energy Group, and Sagri Co., Ltd., illustrating the broader economic and social benefits of their business engagements in Southeast Asia.

“The role of Japanese businesses in fostering sustainable growth and innovation across Southeast Asia is critical,” said Romain Caillaud, Principal at SIPA Partners. “We are honored to have collaborated on this important research and to contribute to the broader discussion on responsible business practices in the region.”

The launch event featured high-profile discussions, including a fireside chat with U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel and a keynote session with Suntory CEO and Keizai Doyukai Chairman Takeshi Niinami, as well as Stanford University’s Francis Fukuyama. The discussions were moderated by Eric K. Hontz, with additional moderation by Daisuke Kawai.

SIPA Partners extends its gratitude to Catherine Tai for her support and collaboration throughout the project, and to Becky Johnson for visiting Tokyo as CIPE continues to deepen its engagement with Japan and its partners.
